Summery: When a savage creature known only as the Adversary conquered the fabled lands of legends and fairy tales, all of the infamous inhabitants of folklore were forced into exile. 

Disguised among the normal citizens of modern-day New York, these magical characters have created their own peaceful and secret society within an exclusive luxury apartment building called Fabletown.

But when Snow White's party-girl sister, Rose Red, is apparently murdered, it is up to Fabletown's sheriff, a reformed and pardoned Big Bad Wolf, to determine if the killer is Bluebeard, Rose's ex-lover and notorious wife killer, or Jack, her current live-in boyfriend and former beanstalk-climber.

Why I read This Comic

I picked up this comic after hearing rave reviews about it from some of my friends. . . One of the main things that excited me was that I had heard that the main female protagonist was really strong and entertaining. . . (I really can’t resist a strong leading lady)

My Thoughts

I went into this comic after playing the very well known Wolf Among Us Xbox 360 game.As the game
is based around the same characters and set in the same world I had known some of the back story before reading. . . Please keep in mind though that the game doesn't follow the comics, even though there are some similarities throughout. Legends In Exile features the first 5 comics in the Fables series.

I really loved the world that Bill Willingham created in this book.  As a lover of all things fairy tale, it was really fun to see what our beloved squeaky clean characters would be like in the real word. Where Prince Charming is a huge man whore, detective Snow White is a strong independent woman and The Big Bad Wolf is the law enforcer.

 

The illustrations in this comic were colour, they mostly consisted of  dull soft tones with the occasional brighter shade. I felt that the art work at times did seem a little dated, but It definitely didn't take away from the story. The font that they used was okay and I thought the amount of text in the book was perfect. 



Overall Impressions – Great

I thought this comic was great read. If you like the idea of a humorous yet gritty take on what our favourite fairy-tale character's would be like in the real world. This is the book for you…
